I Was Starstruck – Rupert Grint Fanboys Over Heung-Min Son at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Son Heung-min, Tottenham Hotspur

Rupert Grint has never been shy about his love for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Harry Potter star has long been a Spurs fan, and he was in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when Ange Postecoglou’s side took on Manchester United. Spurs came away with a much-needed 1-0 win, as they’ll hope these 3 points helps them climb back up from the poor season they’ve had, which has left them 12th.

But for Grint it was magic off the pitch.

A video from his visit on social media platforms shows him meeting James Maddison and Heung-Min Son. Just like a kid seeing their football idol for the first time, Grint was visibly in awe when coming face to face with the Spurs captain.

“So good to see you. Oh my god, I’m starstruck,” says Grint in the video, shaking Son’s hand. He then adds, “We’ve had an amazing day. It’s so good, I’m such a big fan of yours.” The smile on his face said it all—this was a moment of pure fanboy joy.

Although Son didn’t score in that game, he’s had a solid season with 18 attacking contributions 34 games, amidst Spurs’ turbulent season.

Later, in an interview, Grint reflected on the surreal experience of meeting Son, “I was starstruck, because this is the first time I’ve seen him actually in his flesh.” “It’s like stepping out of a TV,” added Grint. The actor, who has met his fair share of global superstars, made it clear that this encounter was something special.

Rupert, being a passionate Spurs fan also spoke about having Son as the captain: “Yeah I love Sonny as a captain, it suits him,” said the British actor.

For a man who spent years playing Ron Weasley in a world of wizards, it turns out nothing quite compares to the magic of meeting Heung-Min Son.
