Joao Felix’s dreams of progressing far into the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League with AC Milan have been prematurely ruined. He couldn’t save them from being eliminated by Feyenoord in the playoffs round, with the Rossoneri failing to get into the Round of 16.
The 25-year-old had a lively outing, but he came up short in the final third in terms of converting the opportunities in his path. However, he ultimately couldn’t inspire the 10-men AC Milan to overturn the 1-0 deficit from the first leg or even win the second leg.

The Portuguese midfielder looked absolutely gutted at the crushing elimination from Europe. He couldn’t hold back his tears on his pitch after being overwhelmed by the emotions. Felix probably feels he let AC Milan down after joining them in the winter window to bolster their hopes of competing strongly in the Champions League.
However, the Rossoneri’s premature exit has also triggered widespread mockery for Felix. He’s being ridiculed on social media for failing to unlock his fullest potential at Milan or being that clinical spark they needed to breach the stubborn Feyenoord backline.

One fan commented: “I’ve never seen Joao Felix have a good game, like ever. This man has cost over 200 million pounds in transfer fees in his career it has to be money laundering.” Another supporter noted: “Joao Felix is another one absolute nothing player. Should go back to Benfica.”

There is also a feeling that Felix’s best years were at Atletico Madrid and that Diego SImeone knows how to use him best. The 25-year-old has scored just one goal in five matches for the Rossoneri so far.
It’s safe to say that unless he shows more efficiency and consistency with goal contributions, Felix faces an uncertain future at the top of European football.
