We have had two consecutive double gameweeks and now it’s back to normal. The gameweek 26 deadline is near and time is ticking away. Here are the top picks for forwards in GW26.
Danny Welbeck(£5.5m)
The former Manchester United striker is a hidden gem for gameweek 26. He still has an ownership of 6% with form on his side. Hurzeler guided Brighton to a famous comeback win after their 0-7 drubbing at the hands of Forest, as Welbeck and co. outsmarted Chelsea by a 3-0 margin.
Welbeck didn’t find the net in the statement win but went on to assist twice, earning 8pts in fantasy in the process. The former England international has a plum fixture in gameweek 26 in the form of an away trip against bottom-placed Southampton.
Welbeck, who is now ahead of Pedro in the pecking order for the Brighton no.9, has 6 goals and 4 assists in Fantasy Premier League 2024-25.
Yoane Wissa(£6.3m)
Wissa has blanked for the last four gameweeks but he seems to be one of the best bets for gameweek 26. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City are fighting it hard to avoid the drop and have been quite patchy in recent times. Their defence is porous and likely to concede a few against Thomas Frank’s Brentford, which boasts of an exciting attacking unit.
Wissa has scored 10 goals and 3 assists in the ongoing campaign alongside maintaining a solid goal threat of 0.59 per 90’. The DR Congo international has been enjoying a brilliant season, as he has already racked up 105pts in fantasy 2024/25.
Beto(£4.9m)
Everton has been in a mess lately, with their forward line booking beds at the hospital. However, this has also been a blessing in disguise as it helped them unleash the true potential of Beto. The Guinea-Bissau international, who originally hails from Portugal, is in a purple patch now — 4 goals in the last three games.
Everton faces Manchester United this week, a side which looks like a pale shadow of its glorious past, at the historic Goodison Park for the final time. With the momentum David Moyes’ team is carrying at the moment, 4 wins and a draw against table-toppers Liverpool in the last five, I am expecting Beto to continue his scoring streak in fantasy.
Also, the Everton no.9 appears to be a great differential with just 3.2% ownership in FPL at the time of writing.
