Fulham v Liverpool Premier League Match Preview and Expert Predictions

Fulham, Liverpool, Premier League

Every game is a final for Liverpool who are 11 points clear at the top with 8 games to go. The Reds travel to Craven Cottage on 6th April, this Sunday to face Fulham, who would want to keep their European dreams alive as they are 10th in the table now.

It’s been a tough week to be a Fulham supporter. Ousted from the FA Cup by Crystal Palace coupled with the 1-2 loss to Arsenal, the Whites will need luck on their side to earn any point against Liverpool.

Both sides played each other 4 times in 2024 with Liverpool winning 2 and 2 draws for Fulham.

Arne Slot’s side haven’t really had any down moments this season in the league and whenever they did, they have been able to bounce back. Like the defensive lapses from Virgil van Dijk in the first half against Everton. The Dutch gaffer set his side right in the half-time as the Blues weren’t offered a sniff at the goal in the second half.

Indeed, Liverpool have the best defence with least xG conceded (26.97) but a point to note would be that Fulham have been the 3rd best (35.03) defence in that time as well.

Fulham also have defensive stalwart Kenny Tete, whose last game before injury was also against Liverpool, returning and could see him appear in the second half.

The referee on Sunday is Chris Kavanagh, a Mancunian.

Players to Watch Liverpool

  • Mohamed Salah: The Egyptian has 44 goals and assists in the Premier League so far. Expect him to be fired up after having gone blank against PSG, Newcastle and Everton.
  • Darwin Nunez: His first PL Goal For Liverpool came at Craven Cottage.

Players to Watch Fulham

  • Raul Jimenez: The Mexican forward has 12 goal involvements in his last 16 Premier League starts on home turf (11 goals, one assist).
  • Antonee Robinson: The 27-year-old left back has more Premier League assists versus Liverpool (3) than he does against any other side.

Predicted Scoreline: Fulham 1-2 Liverpool

  • Key Stat: Out of 35 head-to-head games between the two, Liverpool have won 21, Fulham 7 with 7 draws. LFC have scored 67 goals in those games, compared to Cottagers’ 32.
  • Both Teams to Score: In six of their last seven meetings, both teams have found the net. Both Jimenez and Smith Rowe can exploit Liverpool’s high-pressing style that often leaves gaps at the back.
  • Over 2.5 Goals: Liverpool have scored two or more goals in 13 of their 15 away matches this season.
  • Anytime Goalscorer(s): Both Salah and Jota are best bets as Fulham have conceded nearly 30% of their goals to strikers.

Everton showed Liverpool can be got at. A big man up front can unsettle them and a quick counter catches them out. Muniz is better than Beto at holding the ball and if he starts, Liverpool can expect a really tough game.
