Tottenham Hotspur lost some major ground in the title race after suffering a shock 2-1 loss to Burnley away from home on Saturday.
Harry Kane’s return was expected to spruce up a late push for the title but unfortunately the Englishman’s equalizer in the 65th minute proved to be ultimately futile when Ashley Barnes tapped in Burnley’s winner late on.
The fixture took a controversial turn when Mauricio Pochettino angrily confronted referee Mike Dean following the full-time whistle but apologized for his behavior in a recent presser and accepted a charge from the FA for improper conduct yesterday.
The Argentine also admitted that Spurs are a good 5-10 years away from being regarded as genuine title contenders based on the way they collapsed at Turf Moor.
But while this current crop of young Spurs stars may lack the experience to mount a sustained title charge, a fan has posted his ultimate Spurs XI lineup on Twitter which should give any European team a run for their money.
The team looks more like the stuff of dreams featuring most of the most talented players to have donned the famous white jersey.
Using a 3-4-3 formation to give a perfect blend of attack and defense, the fantasy line-up sees the likes of Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and club legend Teddy Sheringham feature in a deadly attacking trio while the back looks pretty secure in the hands of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Ledley King.
With full-backs Kyle Walker and Danny Rose supporting the skill sets of a Modric-Carrick axis in midfield, the XI looks pretty daunting on paper.
While some sections of Spurs fans felt that the XI was spot on, others disagreed and felt that the likes of Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen and Rafael van der Vaart should have made the line-up as well.
