There’s nothing more pleasurable than getting one over your arch rivals. Especially when it comes in probably the fiercest rivalry in football, the Old Firm derby. Occasions like these are where you give 110% in, even when it comes to celebrations.
That’s exactly what notorious wind-up merchant Scott Brown did at the full-time whistle, after his side’s 2-1 victory at home to Rangers. A video of his celebrations has surfaced online and it has caused an uproar to say the least.
The incident saw Brown celebrate by pumping up the fans and pushing them on. Although initially it appeared as though Brown was leading the celebrations, a “get it up ye” gesture was made towards them. Whether this was made towards the Celtic fans, remains a mystery, although it would seem delusional.
It is evident from the video that Scott Brown was celebrating in front of the home support, but on closer inspection it could be suspected that he gestured towards the Rangers fans close by (there are Celtic fans making graphic gestures in the video).
Here’s another fan’s video that captured the celebrations and the brawl after full-time:
Since then, the Scottish FA have cited Celtic and Rangers for the confrontations between both sets of players at the end of the game. The Celtic captain could face a potential ban for “disciplinary offenses”.
The SFA cites the reason as “not acting in the best interests of Association Football”. Whether this was for taunting Morelos, or the gesture made by him that caused the ruckus at full time, only time will tell.
Celtic have since said they will defend the charges against Brown and them “vigorously”. Reactions to this decision from the from the SFA have been received with all sorts of emotions. Anger. Confusion. Delight. Disgust. Disappointment. Shock.
Another shambolic decision from the SFA.. can someone tell me what Scott Brown actually did. It’s beyond belief.

Brown was the center of attraction in the derby, being directly involved in three incidents: the Morelos sending off, the lashing out by Ryan Kent, and the chaos at full-time. Regardless of his reputation, was the SFA right in citing Brown? This leads us to another question: Is there a bigger wind-up merchant in football than Scott Brown?
Brown (and Celtic’s success) has clearly angered a lot of people.
“not acting in the best interests of Association Football”. The SFA have got away with this for over a hundred years !!
