With the 2018-19 footballing season coming to a close, football fans are eagerly waiting on the reveal of club kits for the upcoming season. It is during this time that clubs provide the fans what they are looking for, as most clubs tend to feature their new strip in the final weeks of the season.

The end of the season sees more attention paid towards what kit sponsors have to offer for the next season. Over time, kits have become more breathable, more suited to the player’s needs; with kit makers paying close attention to function, rather than fashion. But of late, these two aspects have been amalgamated flawlessly to give the fans and players the best of both worlds.

Over the last week or so, we have seen freelance graphic designers shell out their concept kits for clubs, clubs like Roma and Juventus have their new kits leaked online and we have seen the footballing community lose its mind over the prospect of eye-catching kits for the 2019-20 season.

The latest club added to the list of leaked kits is Chelsea. Pictures of Chelsea’s new home kit for the next season leaked online recently, and they look absolutely stunning. Players Cesar Azpilicueta, Ethan Ampadu, and Eden Hazard were seen donning the new strip. The jersey features the ‘rush blue’ of the last two seasons, with graphic designs on the shirt in a darker blue. The designs appear to be inspired by Chelsea’s stadium, Stamford Bridge. The Nike logo is in white, and the shirt sponsors are Yokohama Tyres. The kit will feature blue shorts with the Chelsea logo and the Nike symbol. The stockings are rumored to be blue with two white bands separated by a red band.

While the kit looks stunning and like a piece of contemporary art, it also subconsciously brings about another question. One with regard to the player featured in the kit leak pictures. Eden Hazard. With the Belgian heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer, these leaks would come as a relief to fans hoping that their talisman would stay on in London.

And while the kit is something the Chelsea fans can quench their thirst over, was this leak somewhat of a subliminal message that Chelsea sent out about their number 10? Of course, it is all just speculation, rumors and wishful thinking. Will Hazard stay or leave in the summer?
