Remember the iconic photo of a blood-drenched Terry Butcher? That click was one for the ages as he played on heroically for England despite a blow to the head in a goalless draw against Sweden in 1989. Thirty years on, and we have another warrior in the form of Jorginho, Chelsea’s midfielder general.
The Italian went down early in the second half with a head injury after colliding with Sebastian Rode during Chelsea’s Europa League semi-final first leg at Frankfurt. Jorginho required treatment, due to a cut and was bandaged up by the medical team.
Chelsea’s number 5 got stuck in on the action and oddly enough, put in a classy performance after the knock. Playing the perfect midfield pivot, Jorginho shielded the defenders behind him while initiating the attacking play in front of him.
Orchestrating the game throughout, his performance (especially after his injury) has got Chelsea fans and the community talking about the maestro that he is. Some Chelsea fans even believe that that performance was his best-ever till date in a Chelsea shirt.
Saw a new level to this man tonight.
Exceptional performance from Jorginho but that won't get any media attention because 'he took Kante's position'. pic.twitter.com/M9ZvOrFSTC— Tom (@CFCtom__) May 3, 2019
Whacking a headband on Jorginho is the best tactical move we’ve done all year. My man’s resurrected passing like prime Fabregas and tackling like Makelele pic.twitter.com/FdBkFgDVPk

Fans took to social media to praise the midfielder and also express their reactions to the warrior headband that he was required to wear.

Fans called for respect to be shown to Jorginho, claiming that he is one of the best midfielders in the league, while others were quick to state that he needs to wear the headband every game, as he controlled the game majestically against Frankfurt in the aftermath of the injury.
All this comes as a relief for fans, as the Italian has come under flak of late for his performances and lack of impact.

Chelsea will be hoping that Jorginho can continue to hold on to this form, as they welcome Frankfurt back to Stamford Bridge in a week’s time, with an away goal in hand but the scores tied at 1-1.
And with things in the PL looking very tight for the top 4, Jorginho will be looking forward to influencing the gameplay, and even hope to register his first assist of the season, despite having played the most passes in the league.
