Even though most Arsenal fans seemed delighted that the hierarchy chose to call time on Unai Emery’s troubled reign at the Emirates, it’s reasonable to assume that most are unhappy with the state their club is in right now.
While seeing former ‘Invincible’ Freddie Ljungberg appointed as interim manager seemed to have temporarily provided some respite for the Gooners, another unconvincing display from the players during the 2-2 draw against Norwich seems to show that the problems run deeper than just the man in the dugout at the club.
One of the main concerns sorrounding Arsenal is a perceived lack of togetherness in the Arsenal squad with many pundits especially concerned with the club’s defensive capabilities.
While those off the pitch continue to question the coherence of the unit, a delightful photo has appeared on the internet which should give Arsenal fans a reason to be optimistic about the club’s decision to bring former players into the fold.
The snap of Per Mertesacker towering over midfield linchpin Lucas Torreria has been instantly recieved by Gooners on Twitter with some even comparing the two to a father-son duo.
Since retiring after the 2017/18 season, the German had been working as club’s Academy manager before being named in Ljungberg’s coaching squad following Emery’s departure.
The decision should have a positive effect on the mood in the Arsenal camp with many rumours out there suggesting that the former boss and his players were often not on the same page this season.
Like a father standing over his son. Check out the photo of Mertesacker and Torreria here :
