Liverpool and Chelsea faced each other in a high scoring match at Anfield last night.
It was imperative for the Blues to grind out a result in this fixture to ensure a qualification for next season’s Champions League. It was not meant to be though as the Reds won 5-3.
Now the final matchday meeting between Leicester and Manchester United along with Chelsea’s fixture against Wolves will determine which two teams will qualify for Europe’s premier club competition in 2020-2021.
Liverpool were the better team on the night and raced to a 3-0 lead. Chelsea fought back, but they couldn’t level the score as the Merseyside outfit added two more goals.
Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga had a night to forget
The Spanish goalkeeper has had many below par performances this term and is significantly low on form.
In the 91st minute of the match, with the scoreline at 5-3, Chelsea defenders were shouting at Kepa for not stepping out of his line to claim the ball. Virgil van Dijk could have easily pounced on this mistake and added another goal for the Reds.

Caballero has to start against Wolves, surely?! Our defenders clearly aren’t comfortably playing in front of Kepa. pic.twitter.com/CCXxeYGh7J
His lacklustre showing and the displeased reaction of the players is an indication that the defenders feel relatively uncomfortable in front of him. The Spaniard really needs to step up or else he could risk losing his place permanently to Willy Caballero.
Chelsea’s final league match against Wolves, along with their FA Cup final meeting with Arsenal and Champions League round of 16 game against Bayern Munich, will determine the fate of their season.
