Arsenal came from behind against Chelsea to clinch their 14th FA Cup trophy thanks to a brace from their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang has been a central figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad, and it’s his qualities in front of the goal that has fans pushing the Gabonese to sign a contract extension with the club.
However, there has been a cloud of uncertainty hovering over the striker’s future with the striker taking his time to choose the next steps of his career.
Mikel Arteta hopes that his first trophy as a manager at Arsenal would be enough to tip the tide in Arsenal’s favour.
Following the win, Arteta provided much-needed hope to the Gunners faithful regarding Aubameyang’s situation, stating – “he knows what I think about him; I want to build a squad around him. I think he wants to stay; it is about getting the deal done.”
“I think moments like that will help to realise and give him the belief that we are on the right path and he is a big part of it.”
Besides Aubameyang, Dani Ceballos is another player Arteta would want to build the squad around. The 23-year-old midfielder is currently on-loan from Real Madrid, but unlike Aubameyang, he has publicly mentioned his desire to stay in London.
Both the players would be crucial for the Gunners as they look to gain further competence in the Premier League.
Thankfully for the supporters, the Arsenal duo seem completely smitten by their manager as they were seen writing ‘boss’ comments on an Instagram post by Mikel Arteta –
