Bayer Leverkusen and Rangers locked horns with each other in the Europa League round-of-16 second leg tie at the BayArena. The German outfit ran out 1-0 winners on the night and 4-1 on aggregate as most of the eyes were fixed closely on the attacker Kai Havertz.
The German international has been linked very closely with a move to Chelsea this summer and showed why he is so highly regarded.
He exhibited his talent all night that brought whoops of delight from Die Werkself’s dugout and his floated ball in the 37th minute for Diaby was an inch-perfect pass which duly deserved a better finish.
Chelsea are hoping to get the deal done as soon as possible. The youngster would add quality in their midfield as they look to try and bridge the gap on their Premier League rivals.
Chelsea finished 15 points and 33 points off City and Liverpool respectively in Lampard’s first season in charge of the club which indicates that there is plenty of room for improvement.
Having already signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, the addition of Havertz would be the cherry on top of the cake for the West Londoners.
Leverkusen are understood to be asking somewhere in the region of £70 million – £90 million to part with the 21-year old, though the Blues are still believed to be locked in negotiations in an attempt to reduce the price.
