Months of media speculations and talks linking Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool have finally come to an end. Highly reputable sources including The Athletic and Bild’s Christian Falk have confirmed Thiago’s €30m move to Liverpool.
In his 7 years in Germany, Thiago has gone from being a La Masia potential to one of the best in the business. Bayern Munich largely benefitted from Thiago’s quality in midfield.
The Spaniard was one of the standouts in their treble-winning campaign last season and his spectacular performance in the final against PSG was crucial for Hansi Flick’s men to get their hands on the Champions League trophy.
Understandably, Bayern manager Hansi Flick was gutted to lose his midfield maestro. He revealed in a recent press talk that the team received an emotional goodbye from Thiago. Flick also re-asserted Thiago’s importance in Bayern’s game as he provided a factor of unpredictability in their play.
Flick’s words thoroughly justify what Liverpool will be getting with Spain’s number 10 now at their helm. Jürgen Klopp also laid impressive remarks on the player when he was asked about Thiago’s potential arrival at Anfield.
But it’s not only Flick and Jürgen Klopp who are astounded by Thiago’s quality. Liverpool’s rival Chelsea were well humbled by Thiago’s Bayern in the Champions League tie between them last campaign.
The Blues midfielder Mason Mount expressed his thoughts on the 7-1 aggregate defeat to Bayern in an interview after the conclusion of the UCL campaign, stating, “With the likes of Kimmich and Thiago in Bayern’s midfield, I just couldn’t get near him.”

Mount was left questioning himself “How are we going to stop this?”, as Bayern Munich ran rings around Chelsea.
Well, it seems that the man who wreaked havoc in front of Mason Mount and the Blues in the UCL last season could feature (highly unlikely though) against them as soon as this Sunday in a mouthwatering clash between Chelsea and the reigning champions Liverpool.
