Mohamed Elneny turned out to be the unsung hero on the night as Arsenal won 1-0 against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Egyptian was a surprise inclusion in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI but thoroughly justified his selection by dominating the 4-man United midfield along with Thomas Partey.
Elneny played like his life depended on it and was seen pressing United players till the end of the match.

66 passes (most for Arsenal player)
55 completed passes (most for Arsenal player)
39 passes in opponents half (more than anyone on the pitch)
Conceded just one foul up against Bruno, Pogba, Van De Beek etc. #AFC
Now back in the Arsenal ranks after spending last season on loan at Besiktas, Elneny showed what he’s capable with a relentless quest for the ball in the 91st minute of the game.
The 28-year-old acted like a one-man defensive shield as he pressed 3 United players late in the game and forced a turnover of possession.

It wouldn’t be far from truth to say it was Mohamed Elneny’s best performance in an Arsenal shirt since Arsene Wenger brought him to the club back in 2016.
