Arturo Vidal sent a spectacular strike from distance to open the scoring for Chile in their World Cup qualifier against Peru earlier today.
La Roja won the latest edition of Clásico del Pacífico after a captain’s performance from the Inter Milan Midfielder.
A brace from Vidal helped Chile get their first win of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after defeating Peru 2-0 in Santiago.
In contrast, Peru are still winless after 3 games, and have been utterly disappointing so far.
Vidal took his to tally to 31 goals from 118 caps for Chile, an impressive feat for any box-to-box midfielder to play the game.
With 15 goals, the former Barcelona man also holds the record for most goals by a South American midfielder in World Cup qualifying stages.
His first on the night was an absolute screamer which left Peru goalkeeper Pedro Gallese standing still and with an expression on his face that read – “Does anyone expect me to save that?”.
