Last night’s London derby ended in a 3-1 defeat for Chelsea as an out-of-form Arsenal side ran rampage at the Emirates Stadium to register a win against all odds.
The result ended a seven game winless streak in the Premier League for the Gunners, while the Blues fell to their third loss in four games.
Goals from Alex Lacazette, Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka sealed the three points for Arsenal, while a late goal from Tammy Abraham proved to be mere consolation.
Chelsea fans were left enraged after a very poor run of games of late as they turned their attention to criticising the players on their social media handles, while some even took it one step further by reaching out to some of the players’ better halves.
Chelsea forward Abraham’s girlfriend Leah Monroe was subjected to certain comments from fans regarding Abraham’s inclusion in the team.
When an angry fan commented on Monroe’s post on Instagram to tell her boyfriend to leave Chelsea, Monroe defended Abraham by rightfully stating that her boyfriend was the only goalscorer for Chelsea in the loss against Arsenal.
Monroe also instructed the concerned fan to “watch his mouth” in her attempt to defend her boyfriend against the internet troll.
Abraham has scored a total of six goals in the league so far this season, being Chelsea’s top goalscorer as of now.
It is a return which surpasses all of Frank Lampard’s coveted summer signings’ tallies so far, as fellow attackers Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Olivier Giroud all have scored less than the Englishman in the league this season.
Things could be different for Chelsea if not for the 24-year-old’s goals, something that has to be kept in mind for all of his critics.
Football is a team sport after all, and it is not nearly fair to scapegoat an individual for the team’s poor form: and Monroe made sure that the fan learns his lesson.
