Fulham’s win over Sheffield United last night was an alarming result for Newcastle United, who saw the deficit between them and Fulham now down to only three points in the battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.
An Ademola Lookman strike was enough to secure all three points at Craven Cottage last night, as Fulham are now only a win away from equalling Newcastle’s tally for the season.
The Magpies will now be desperate to get a point or three in their crunch tie against Manchester United when they meet each other at Old Trafford tonight.
Newcastle fans reacted to Fulham’s win on Twitter with many ranting about the club’s inept hierarchy, and how the management has run their favourite team into the ground.
The cold war between the Newcastle United hierarchy and their faithful following does not look like coming to an end anytime soon if the club keeps up with their below-par performances.
A loss for them tonight will only speed up the fans losing their patience at the manager and the hierarchy, as Newcastle – who seem to be in a full-blown relegation battle as the weeks go by – go into a very crucial game tonight in order to keep the upper hand at maintaining their top-flight status.

Well, that really leaves #NUFC in absolutely massive trouble as #FFC close the gap to 17th-placed #NUFC to just 3 points & they also have a superior goal difference.
Tomorrow is massive for #NUFC; they have to start winning. Now. Fulham have all the momentum.
Alarming.
The most sickening aspect of all this is that we had a chance for new era under ambitious ownership. But it was denied by Premier League, and that may have been the final nail in the coffin. #nufc

Call me paranoid, but it seems like many pundits have spent far too much time telling Newcastle fans why they’re wrong about Steve Bruce, and not enough time, say, watching our games, analysing our performances or even checking the league table. #NUFC

Shocking decision after shocking decision.
Heading towards his third relegation.
