The defensive duo of Simon Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori had to be at their best as Genoa threw the kitchen sink at AC Milan in search of an equaliser late in the game.
The away side almost pulled off the said equaliser in the 87th minute but it wasn’t to be as Kjaer and Tomori performed two audacious goal-line clearances one after the other.
It had been a long time coming but it finally happened as AC Milan won their first game at home in nearly two months as they defeated Genoa 2-1 at San Siro.
Ante Rebic had put the Rossoneri ahead in the 13th minute with a thumping strike but Genoa made it 1-1 eight minutes from half time courtesy of a headed goal from Mattia Destro.
Milan had their work cut out in the second half but struggled to make any breakthrough. However, lady luck was on their side as Genoa striker Gianluca Scamacca scored an own goal in the 68th minute to edge the hosts back in front.
The away side launched a final assault at the Rossoneri and almost bagged an equaliser, for the second time in the match, but for this double block from Kjaer and Tomori –
