Marcos Llorente just ate up the yards as the Atletico Madrid midfielder set the new La Liga speed record for the 20/21 season with an arduous run against Athletic Bilbao.
What makes his run even more special is the fact that it happened in the 91st minute, while trying to break down an Athletic counter-attacking manoeuvre.
Breaking the speed record is good but what Llorente would have liked more was to take all 3 points to boost their title-winning chances. Sadly for Diego Simeone’s men, it wasn’t to be as they lost 2-1 at San Mames.
Inigo Martinez scored the winner for the Basque side after Stefan Savic had brought table-toppers Atletico back into the game following an eight-minute goal from Alex Berenguer.
