If Billy Gilmour had any nerves after being thrown in the deep end against England, he sure didn’t show them.
The Chelsea lad was thrust into action at the biggest of stages as Scotland manager Steve Clarke put him on the team sheet to face their arch-rivals and the 20-year-old responded by winning the man of the match in what was a complete midfield performance.
Scotland defenders couldn’t have asked for an easier game as the trio of Billy Gilmour, John McGinn and Callum McGregor nullified England’s midfield.
The former Rangers player stood out among the rest as he controlled the rhythm and bossed the centre of Wembley pitch by completing more successful passes than any other Scotland player (40), with a 91% success rate. He also won the ball back 8 times, more than any player on the pitch.
So calm & composed with the ball, check out Gilmour’s highlights from the goalless draw against England below –
