Arsenal lost their first friendly of the season with a 2-1 scoreline against Scottish Premiership outfit Hibernian.
It was the most underwhelming way to start preseason for the North London club, and even more so for their young goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.
Hibernian led Arsenal by a goal to nil in the 22nd minute, and it was down to unimpressive defending and a far worse goalkeeping error.
Mikel Arteta’s woes were to continue as Daniel McKay sent Hibernian two to the good in the second half, and Arsenal could not even capitalise after being given a penalty kick–as Nicolas Pepe missed from the spot.
Though one of their shining lights of last season, Emile Smith Rowe pulled one back for the Gunners, it was too late to salvage anything from the match.
The 20-year-old produced an Ozil-esque finish, as he hit the pass from Hector Bellerin into the ground to send it over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. A technique made famous by former Arsenal man Mesut Ozil.
The Smith.
