The Lionel Messi era at Barcelona is officially over.
The club now faces the massive challenge of replacing him as the face of the club.
One would have expected Antoine Griezmann to be handed the mantle, or perhaps new signing Memphis Depay or wonderkid Ansu Fati.
But it’s the hardworking and modest Pedri that has been chosen to replace the superstar of football.
18-year-old Pedro Gonzalez – ‘Pedri’ – is now the poster boy of one of the biggest football clubs in the world. Incredible.
The club’s promotional posters that featured Messi at the store have been replaced with pictures of Pedri.

Sources within the club have revealed that the new promotional material sent to the official stores will now focus on Pedri.
The youngster certainly deserves every bit of success coming his way and has completely earned his reward as he is already quite an important player for both Spain and Barcelona.
His tireless display throughout last season has got football fans worried about his well-being.
But Pedri continues to impress with his work rate as he joined Barcelona training after playing in the Olympics finals last week.
