Albert Sambi Lokonga continues to impress both on and off the pitch since signing for Arsenal in an £18m move from Anderlecht in the summer.
The 20-year-old’s performance in the middle of the park has been one of the very few things to cheer about for Arsenal fans who saw their team follow their lacklustre pre-season campaign with a shocking opening-day loss to Brentford.
The Belgian further showed his class as he bid farewell to Joe Willock with an amazing throwback photo never ever seen before.
The recently acquired midfielder took to Instagram with an old picture of facing Joe Willock as a child after the latter’s move to Newcastle United.
Willock completed a £25m move to the Magpies after impressing Steve Bruce in his loan spell at the club last season.
As much as Arsenal fans would have rued the departure of one of their academy lads, they appreciated the gesture from another boyhood hero.
Sambi, an Anderlecht academy product, uploaded a photo of himself competing in a youth event with the now-former Arsenal player as he wrote – “good luck bro”.
The Belgian added another story to his Instagram with a photo of the duo in Arsenal training.
This time the message read “Le monde est petit”, which when translated in English reads – “The world is small”. Indeed.
One must admit, it would have been interesting to see the twosome operate in midfield for Arsenal as Sambi can pick out a pass and Willock is known to make runs behind the opposition defensive line.
