It looks like quite the time to be a Manchester United supporter, as the Red Devils made easy work of Leeds United in their first game week clash of the new Premier League season.
Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba were the stars of the show at Old Trafford, as a hat-trick from the Portuguese and a quartet of assists by the Frenchman made sure that the spirits were high in the red half of Manchester going into the new season.
Manchester United fans channelled deep into their creative ability to praise their best players, and the latest player to get a chant all for himself is their Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.
Even though the forward who just signed a one-year extension to his contract to extend his stay at United did not feature in the first game week clash, the fans remembered to keep him in their thoughts – as they debuted Cavani’s chant that is complex, and yet quite catchy at the same time.
The United supporters sing about their love for the club’s current number seven who is also known as “El Matador”, as they praise him further by describing him as the “king of Uruguay”.
The chant goes – “I am in love, I can’t deny, my number seven is the king of Uruguay – El Matador, who could that be – his first name is Edinson, his second is Cavani.”
Cavani who signed for United from Paris Saint Germain last summer has scored important goals in his one year at the club, has converted himself into a fan favourite in his very short stay.
After missing the entirety of pre-season after taking part with the Uruguayan team in Copa America, he will be looking to play in a United shirt for another year – and listen to the United supporters belt this brilliant tune out for him.
