It turned out to be one of if not the moment of the match as Kostas Tsimikas battled two Burnley players and came out with the ball in the 89th minute of Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Burnley.
The Greek left-back had Anfield on its feet with his battling display and was soon given a standing ovation after he was subbed off for Joe Gomez a few seconds later.
Here’s the reaction on Twitter –
The moment
Kostas Tsimikas has been refreshingly good at left-back. He’s tenacious in everything he does from retaining possession to overlapping and providing goal-scoring opportunities. Greek Scouser. pic.twitter.com/qpertT0RJ9

Greek Scouser bringing in some dogged tenacity
Still thinking about Tsimikas refusing to give up the ball yesterday, even though he was at the bottom of a Burnley piley-on. The Greek Scouser.

Loved that Tsimikas moment when he had three Burnley players all over him, they took him down and crowded him and then he just came out with the ball!! Bloody brilliant!

Thoroughly enjoyed when Mike Dean refused to give a blatant foul on Tsimikas so he just decided to out muscle 3 Burnley players and run away with the ball. Brilliant today, and has really stepped up.

How amazing was that bit near the end where Tsimikas just kept battling, getting knocked around and came out with the ball? Those moments, in front of crowds, are how squad players become fan favorites. Brilliant stuff.

‘Andy Robertson v City’ comparisons abound
I really hope this is Kostas’ Andy Robbo against Man City moment.

The whole crowd were on their feet. Absolutely love to see it. 🔥pic.twitter.com/OHkLpZT3pQ
Tsimikas in that scrum for the ball where he comes out with it in the last 5 mins at the end is his ‘Robertson press vs Man City 2018’ moment

He’s ready for Chelsea
I see no reason to rush Robbo considering how much football he played without a rest last season and it seems harsh to drop Tsimikas after such a fantastic performance.

I’d start Tsimikas against Chelsea.
