Liverpool celebrated a major victory when they beat AC Milan 3-2 in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, but it wasn’t without a few jibes from the opposition.
The Reds came out blazing against the Italian giants with their game plan focused on attacking.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were relentless in their approach and attacked Milan from the very start. They took the lead in the 9th minute, but the Rossoneri equalised in the 42nd minute via Ante Rebic.
As the Milan players celebrated, Alexis Saelemekers took the opportunity to wind up Liverpool fans who were roaring all game.
The Belgian midfielder was not subtle in his approach as he pointed to the Champions League badge on his shirt.
The 22-year-old along with the rest of his teammates have their shirt sleeves emblazoned with the number 7 on the CL badge – a symbol of their 7 European Champions League glory. As oppose to Liverpool, who have the number 6 denoting their six CL triumphs.
Naturally, the action of the Milan star provoked reactions from both sides and neutrals alike. Here’s a glimpse of the said reaction –
Milan fans loved it

I don’t care what anyone says I love Saelemaekers, he understands how much the Milan shirt and badge means to all us fans and always gives it his all. Seeing him grab our badge after we scored got me so emotional

Liverpool fans had the last laugh though
Saelemaekers pointing at the 7 UCL badge on his sleeve as if he had anything to do with all that history for Milan 🤡🤡🤡
