Jurgen Klopp will be on the lookout for superstars who could augment his side’s attack so that they continue to rule the roost in Europe.
One option for the German could be Ivan Toney. The Brentford striker has always been an admirer of the Reds, to the extent that he is willing to sign for them even if only for a bit-part role, as he told Total Media during his interview.
When asked to choose between being the main man at Leeds United and occupying space on the Liverpool FC bench, the 25-year-old Englishman was very unambiguous with his response as he said “I’d choose Liverpool and make myself the main man” – not shying away from making his ambitions known.
His goals, however, might not be as far-fetched as they seem given his performance when Brentford last met the Reds at Anfield back in September.
A well-rounded striker with a high work rate, Toney was a constant menace for the Liverpool backline, and even managed to slot the ball in the nets which would’ve been the winner for his side had it not been ruled offside by the officials. The match ended in a 3-3 draw, post which he could be seen exchanging pleasantries (see image above) with Klopp.
Even though Brentford has been going through a rough patch of late, Ivan Toney has managed to put up an appreciable show with 2 goals and 2 assists in the 10 appearances that he has made in Premier League.
His feisty “go-getter” attitude certainly earned plaudits from the Twitterverse which appreciated the striker’s solemn determination.
“If they come knocking, who knows” were his exact words which were reflective of the fact that even though there is currently no offer on the table, Toney would jump at the opportunity to sport the red jersey with pride.
