Arguably the Premier League’s most impressive non-traditional top-six side this season, West Ham continue to win over their doubters, having carried over their remarkable form from last season.
The Hammers have been increasingly convincing in Europe; yet to lose a game while their domestic form continues to lay down benchmarks under David Moyes’ management.
While the whole team have significantly contributed to the club’s recent triumphs, team captain Declan Rice continues to be the standout performer amongst West Ham’s well-coached set-up.
The midfielder is amongst the few England internationals who have conspicuously grown in confidence following a physically draining Euro 2020 campaign and has been consistent since the start of the season.
Rice, who continues to emphatically captain a remarkable West Ham side, showed yet another aspect of his leadership, albeit in a slightly x-rated manner.
New footage from the game shows the midfielder singing in tune alongside the fanbase’s newly coined chant about Jarrod Bowen and his fiancée Dani Dyer following during West Ham’s 1-4 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday.
Both Bowen and Dyer are said to have been in a romantic relationship after the former struck a friendship with the Love Island star earlier this year. While West Ham fans have taken to their relationship, Tottenham Hostpur fans were heard chanting vile songs about Dyer during West Ham’s game against the North-London outfit in October.
Since then, Bowen’s club has come to the rescue with the West Ham support conceiving a comparatively endearing chant, singing: “Bowen’s on fire and he’s sh***ing Dani Dyer”.
While club supporters continue chanting about the couple’s sex life, sources close to Dyer expressed her distaste towards the chant. “She understands Jarrod will get a bit of ribbing, but it’s too much when they are singing about her sex life.”, a source reported to The Sun in October. Rice was captured singing the same chant to Bowen in the follow-up to the latter’s goal last Sunday.
Those familiar with Rice’s public persona aren’t unsurprised with the 21-year-old’s willingness to enjoy this football, both on and off the pitch – as witnessed in numerous training videos released by the England National Team on their Youtube channel throughout the summer.
Rice is known to be amongst the most cheerful figures in the dressing room, although he remains amongst the most demanding of characters on the pitch.
The Hammers will look to qualify to the knockout stages when they face Genk in their Europa League tie on Thursday before they host Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
