It seems the Rangers fan base cannot get enough of Zambian National Fashion Sakala.
The 24-year-old has gone on to become amongst the club’s most loved players after he scored a scintillating hat-trick in the club’s 1-6 win over Motherwell on Sunday.
Since then, Rangers fans have taken to the road singing praises and conceiving a rendition of Shakira smash-hit Waka-Waka (This Time for Africa) for the Zambian striker.
While the striker’s eye for goal and humble personality has been a hit amongst the fan base, the rendition – sung for a few months now – has naturally risen in popularity after the player’s exquisite performance last weekend.
As the Gers prepared for their Europa League clash in Denmark later in the evening, videos emerged of travelling supporters singing the striker’s catchy tune at a pub in Copenhagen.
Though fans remain delighted about the striker’s recent exploits, many visibly struggle to get the tune out of their heads. The lyrics: Tsamina mina eh eh, Fashion Jnr eh eh, Tsamina mina zangalewa, He comes from Zambia!, although a bit of a tongue twister, continues to uplift spirits, offering a refreshing interpretation of the original.
In the recent clip, fans can be signing marvelling to the catchy song, singing “He comes from Zambia!,” as an ode to Sakala’s homeland.
Sakala’s song turned out to be the much-needed softener as Rangers endured a 1-1 draw against Brondby. However, regardless of the result, the newly conceived song for the Gers’ beloved Zambian will surely be listened to and sung on loop for the coming weeks and months.
