Paul Scholes seems to have it in for Chelsea in recent times.
It began with an astonishing hot take as the former United man speaking on “The Overlap” claimed that Chelsea’s defence wasn’t good enough.
Drawing comparisons with Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, Scholes claimed that Chelsea’s defence was the worst of the lot.
Those comments certainly came back to haunt him as Chelsea’s exemplary defensive record continues having conceded only 5 goals so far this campaign whilst United have let in 22.
Safe to say, Scholes gained some infamy amongst the Chelsea faithful with these comments.
The former English international was back at it again, this time claiming that Thiago Silva would’ve been easy pickings for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Unfortunately, we were unable to see this potential battle unfold on the pitch as Ronaldo was shockingly benched by new appointed interim manager Michael Carrick.
His little cameo after coming on as a sub didn’t amount to much either as the Portuguese forward was largely anonymous due to a lack of possession for United.
Thiago Silva on the other hand started the game and from an individual standpoint was spotless throughout.
Well, amongst the negativity, here’s my positive tweet from today’s game :

Thiago Silva won all of his ground duels, had 11/15 long balls completed, with 3 clearances, 2 tackles, an interception and won the all important penalty.

He didn’t put a foot wrong as these stats indicate, continuing his impressive solidity at the back.
Usually a calm and collected figure, Scholes’s comments clearly were enough to prompt “O Monstro” into responding.
He took to Instagram and voiced exactly what he thought about Scholes’ remark as he wrote – “It is always easy, especially for those who have stopped playing.”
Surely the debate won’t end here, luckily for us, the reverse fixture at Old Trafford between the two Premier league Heavyweights might offer up some answers.
