New Man United therapist Sascha Lense has a connection to Chelsea

Chelsea, Manchester United, Timo Werner

Manchester United began a new era under interim coach Ralf Rangnick with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace this week. And following the German’s arrival at Old Trafford, speculations were rife about additional reinforcements.

Reports suggest that Sascha Lense, the current RB Leipzig sport psychologist, could well be on his way to Manchester.

Rangnick’s association with the psychologist dates back to his time at Leipzig during his two spells at the club.

Lense had remained in Germany until now, as some reports revealed that the psychologist had already arrived at Carrington on Monday.

Lense’s appointment is the second addition after Chris Armas joined the coaching team at United.

The Chelsea connection

However, even before this move from Saxony to Manchester, there was one unlikely source that kept Lense linked to the Premier League.

Chelsea forward Timo Werner, an ex-Leipzig player, is well familiar with Lense, and for more reasons than one.

Werner began a relationship with Lense’s daughter, Paula, during his time at Leipzig. The couple, who are now happily married, allegedly met in the summer of 2017 at a party according to Germany-based SportBuzzer.

Making an unexpected appearance at the event, Paula Lense caught Werner’s eye. And soon enough, the young duo, both of whom were high school students, became a couple. From then on, Sascha Lense and Werner have had a relationship that was a little more than just professional.

And with Sascha and Werner reuniting again in the Premier League, albeit as opponents, it will be interesting to see how both go about managing their affair in view of abiding filial sentiments.
