In the build-up to their match against the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was seen sporting a grey hoodie with Leeds United’s crest printed on it.
Pictures from the pre-match talk surely would’ve piqued the curiosity of many, with fans left to guess the possible connection between the two teams.
For the uninitiated, the enterprise branch of the 49ers owns a big stake in the Elland Road club. The holding company recently acquired an additional 7% stakes, bringing their total share in Leeds up to 44%.
Kyle Shanahan wearing a Leeds imprinted hoodie was perhaps a small gesture highlighting a major step in furthering a more intimate relationship between 49ers and Leeds United.

The latest additional investment makes the American franchise owner of almost equal stake alongside Andrea Radrizzani’s Aser Ventures.
It’s safe to suggest that 49ers Enterprises have long-term goals and objectives with regard to the Premier League club, despite the relegation threat and subsequent financial threats looming large upon them.
The growing partnership between the two entities, however, has drawn scepticism from certain sections of Leeds supporters, who are understandably critical of American businesses and their involvement in the sport.
With reports of an agreement being in place for the American enterprise to buy out Aser Ventures by 2024, Whites fans can only hope for a successful transition and management on a larger scale.
