Over the past few years, the football world has seen an extended American presence.
Be it USMNT stars shining in Europe’s biggest leagues or Ted Lasso gracing our screens, ‘soccer’ as they call it, continues to gain popularity in the USA.
Fans witnessed another football crossover into American pop culture, this time via a rather unexpected source.
History TV’s popular reality show, Pawn Stars, which showcases the regular happenings of the ‘Gold and Silver Pawn Shop’, welcomed a visitor looking to sell a signed Christian Pulisic jersey.
Hence, setting the scene for an intriguing yet cringe-worthy exchange.
Normally, one could depend on the long-running TV show to give them their history fix, especially due to the number of historical memorabilia that is featured on the show.
In contrast, this clip is rife with inaccuracies.
Some of the most outrageous claims in the clip included a farfetched comparison of the Chelsea forward’s stature in the game to that of LeBron James in basketball.
This was furthered when an ‘expert’ drew parity between Pulisic and the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.
The seller, who claimed to be a “huge soccer fan” and an “even bigger Pulsiic fan”, managed to get the 22-year-old’s position wrong.
He stated that the winger plays as a ‘central midfielder’ or a ‘centre forward’, which raised reasonable doubts at the depth of his fandom.

Unfortunately, the sale failed to come to fruition as the store representative decided to pass on the jersey.
Perhaps, it’ll be a decision he might rue as time goes by, especially if Pulisic lives up to the massive expectations surrounding him.
