Mateo Kovacic’s impact at Chelsea has often been rather understated.
The Croatian joined the Blues initially on loan back in 2018 and has since been then been a mainstay in the squad.
Be it Sarri, Lampard, or Tuchel, the change in philosophies and systems never affected the Croatian’s place in the side, which speaks volumes about the 27-year-old’s versatility.
The midfielder has become a fan favourite at the Bridge and Blues fans would readily debate anyone deeming Kovacic to be anything less than world-class.
Their adoration for their number 8 hit a new ceiling as they unveiled a chant in his honour.
Sung in the same tune as the song for former Blues forward Willian, the chant includes references to Kovacic’s past clubs.
Real Madrid and Inter Milan are namedropped in the song along with a rather unkind reference to former Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.
A reference to former manager and club legend Frank Lampard alongside Chelsea’s transfer ban concludes the song.
Mateo Kovacic finally has a chant!

The former Chelsea player of the year had been sidelined due to injury for the past few weeks, and his presence in midfield was sorely missed.
His recovery offers an opportunity for Chelsea to turn around their lacklustre form and perhaps make a push for the title.
