Ajax midfielder Dusan Tadic’s 2020/21 campaign was memorable, to say the least.
The highlight of his season undoubtedly being his record-breaking assists tally.
The Serbian recorded a total of 37 assists which eclipses the previous record held by Lionel Messi for his exploits from 2011.
Or at least so it seemed, as fans were quick in pointing out the inclusion of assists recorded in friendlies, without which Tadic falls shy by just one.
Nonetheless, the figures themselves are convincing enough as far as an impressive season is concerned.
And fans are deeming Tadic’s campaign to be worthy of inclusion into FIFA 22 TOTY.
Every year, game developer EA Sports releases the candidates who are to be featured in the Team of the Year, one which is voted for by fans.
The select few aside from bragging rights also get a special beefed-up card in the years’ FIFA.
And on this occasion, Ajax supporters look to be hell-bent on making sure their captain gets a berth.
The hashtag #VoteTadic gained popularity online yesterday, encouraging voters from all around the world to partake in voting for the 33-year-old.
Notable FIFA personalities joined in on the fun too, assuring the campaign’s popularity.
And if that weren’t enough many Ajax fans even took to the streets and promoted the campaign.
Images have emerged showcasing a few instances of this and the devotion expressed by Ajax fans is one every fan can appreciate.
From large banners displaying the hashtag to even a tattoo conveying the same message, fans have left no stone unturned.
While Tadic’s credentials on their own are solid enough to be deemed deserving of the spot, the passion Ajax fans have shown makes this cause one that everyone can get behind.
And at this point, it would seem rather unjust if Tadic’s inclusion into the TOTY does not come to fruition.
