The January transfer window brings with it an opportunity for clubs to reassess and restrengthen areas before venturing onward to the second half of the season.
Going by transfer rumours, one of the biggest potential deals could be the transfer of Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic to Premier League giants Arsenal.
Aside from offensive reinforcements, the London club is also looking into the possibility of bringing in a new backup goalkeeper.
The most likely candidate for which looks to be New England Revolution keeper, Matt Turner.
The 27-year-old is a relatively unknown figure in European circles, but his exploits in the MLS have seen his stock soar.
The American was MLS’ 2021 Goalkeeper of the Year, perhaps providing an idea of his capabilities.
Nonetheless, an old tweet from the keeper which resurfaced following the rumours could perhaps convince Gooners a tad more.
The tweet dates back to 2016, the year of Leicester City’s Premier League miracle.
The Foxes outran everyone on their way to the title, the only team within any reach of Leicester were Arsenal’s grave rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Turner’s tweet came after the dramatic conclusion of the infamous ‘Battle of the Bridge; game, which saw Spurs concede the title to Leicester after a 2-2 draw against Chelsea.
The American congratulated the Foxes and then expressed his distaste for Spurs and labelled them as ‘classless’.
He then ended the tweet with ‘#COYG’, an indication of Turner’s Arsenal fandom.
It remains to be seen how the transfer saga plays out.
Nonetheless, if the tweet is anything to go by, Turner might just have an opportunity to play for his beloved club.
