Germany international and Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry is certainly a top player.
His look is an unmistakable one as well, the 26-year-old pulls off braids effortlessly these days and of course, dons an undershirt.
Fans have recently spotted a rather peculiar fashion choice, as the German now takes to the pitch after painting one of his fingernails black.
Initially perceived as a statement piece, we have now received further context regarding the motivations behind his choice, and it proves that is a top bloke as well.
The black nail is a part of the “Polished Man” campaign started by the ‘YGAP’ organization.
The campaign looks to draw attention to incidents of violence and abuse against children.
To draw attention to the noble initiative, the campaign urges people to paint a fingernail black.
The fingernail represents that on average 1 in 5 five children before the age of 18 worldwide suffer physical or sexual violence.
The story behind the symbol is heartening too.
As per the website, the gesture was brought into existence by a rescued girl, who was a victim of sexual and physical violence.
The girl painted the fingernail of YGAP CEO Elliot Costello, as a farewell and since then the organization has called upon people to paint their fingernails black.
It’s great to see Gnabry use his platform for an incredible cause and hopefully, we’ll see other footballers follow suit.
