Thomas Muller has his unique way of replying to questions posed to him. His savage and comical replies make him one of the most charismatic personalities in the game. In the recent interview with ‘Sport Bild’, Muller took a dig at the Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian striker has been linked with many clubs this season including Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Previously he had also been linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid, but the pursuit has been called off at the moment with Madrid closing in to buy PSG wonder-kid Kylian Mbappe.
MULLER’S REACTION
In this latest interview with Sports Bild, Muller was asked if there was a possibility of him ‘feeding’ Haaland with assists and playing with him in the next season. “I prefer to feed my horses and rabbits”, was the interesting reply from Bayern star.
This has come as a surprise to many fans who weren’t able to stem out the root of this sharp reply. Muller seems to share great chemistry with his teammate Robert Lewandowski, who also happened to have joined Bayern from the rival club.
Poland international’s contract expires with Bayern at the end of next season. Although the club wants RL9 to stay, they are not leaving out the possibility of a replacement. Bayern has always had the bigger say in buying any great talents that Bundesliga produces and Haaland is surely one of the rising stars of the league.
However, Muller does not seem too keen to see Haaland moving to Allianz Sand. He stated that it would be “odd” if the Haaland would replace Lewandowski. He however added, that in “football, everything is possible”.
Muller’s contract itself is in question after reports have arisen claiming that no discussions have been held with the 32-year-old regarding the expiry of his current contract. “I’m very relaxed and at the same time confident. Nobody from the club has approached me yet. So we have to wait and see what the future will bring”, he told Sports Bild.
HAALAND’S FUTURE IN QUESTION
Erling Braut Haaland has been one of the world’s top emerging talents in the last couple of seasons. He has taken Bundesliga by storm ever since he arrived at Dortmund in 2019. At just the age of 21, he has scored 80 goals and assisted 21 others in 79 appearances for the club and has proven to be a force to reckon with.
Almost all the major clubs in the world are interested in signing the Norwegian striker. Premier League champions, Manchester City are most likely the candidate to sign the striker after running almost the entire season without a number 9. Haaland would surely shine in the sky blue jersey under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, who keeps a keen eye on the striker, despite already buying one in the January transfer window.
Haaland not only has a powerful shooting ability but is also seen to have immense speed. Following Ralf Rangnick’s philosophy, Bayern’s current boss Julian Nagelsmann is also known to demand high pressing from his players. Just like City, Haaland would also be a great fit under Nagelsmann.
