During West Ham‘s Europa League visit to Sevilla, a picture emerged of what is supposedly the away stand, and it certainly is frightening.
The Hammers were handed Sevilla as their round of 16 opponents, a difficult prospect considering Sevilla’s Europa League record.
And they journeyed to the Ramon-Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, hoping for a positive result to build upon for the second leg in London. In the end, they settled for a 1-0 defeat, a less than ideal result, but one Hammers’ fans might just have been thankful for.
The away stand at Sevilla doesn’t look very safe.😬🏟 pic.twitter.com/g86E8Jf5UM

Our assumption spawns out of this picture of the away stand, it appears to be a rather cramped area, resembling the layout of a staircase, and with virtually no security rails on sight, it is certainly an acrophobic’s nightmare.
A goal celebration could’ve easily led to a loss of balance, which would’ve sent a spectator tumbling down towards a nasty injury.
Thank God West Ham didn’t score a last minute equaliser.

This would’ve been messy. pic.twitter.com/CfQlUQ4hXV
Those at the top of the stand would’ve surely felt the uneasy sensation of vertigo, especially considering the lack of security measures in place.
As the image went viral online, fans flooded in with reactions and voiced their concerns about the lack of safety.
Others shared pictures of similarly frightening venues making one thing for sure, there is an immediate need for basic stadium regulations. Hopefully, such a change occurs quickly and not after a spectator gets terribly hurt.
