The El Clasico wasn’t the only derby on offer for football fans last night, as ‘De Klassiker’ delivered a thrilling game of football right before Barcelona’s 4-0 triumph against Real Madrid.
Contested between Dutch heavyweights Ajax and Feyenoord, it delivered on the promise of a derby, filled with drama and late twists, and was eventually won with a last-gasp goal.
In the end, Ajax came away with 3-2 victory, the final goal coming from Brazilian forward Antony.
The tricky winger was undoubtedly Ajax’s best player on the night, cans eventually won them the game by slotting home a Nicolas Tagliafico cross.
A classic win which will be remembered fondly by fans, and naturally, many spectators would’ve wanted the tricky Brazilian’s shirt as a memento.
Well, the man himself walked to a section of supporters after full-time, perhaps to offer a young fan his shirt, but for a bit of dark wizardry by an Ajax fan.
As seen in this clip, the Brazilian walks over to the supporters, shirt in hand, before being embraced by a couple of Ajax fans.
In the meantime, an opportunist sneaks in, seeing a window to nab the shirt for himself. He takes advantage of Antony being distracted, and quite smoothly, steals the shirt and slips away.
He then makes a quick escape and disappears into the background, concluding a successful heist.
Unfortunately, his antics left the youngsters in the front row looking dejected, Antony himself tried to spot the culprit but it was simply too late.
As smooth as the nab was, its aftermath was simply saddening, and we sincerely hope the young fans have better luck.
As it turns out, some young fans are indeed going to benefit as the Ajax fan later gave the shirt back to the club which will now be auctioned and given to a children’s hospital.
