Aside from being one of the best strikers in the world, Erling Haaland is also a pure entertainer. On the pitch, the Norwegian displays unwavering focus, but off it, he’s simply a hoot.
Known for awkward post-match interviews, suggestive eyeballing, and plenty of joking around with teammates, Haaland has an amusing character, to say the least. The latest example of this comes via a video featuring him and fellow teammate Jude Bellingham.
In the video, the two BVB stars read aloud fan comments on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok, and then weigh in with their opinions.
Topics of discussion included Haaland’s hairstyle, TikTok comps for Jude and many more.
Towards the end, a discussion began about Bellingham’s former club, Birmingham City FC.
The 18-year-old, who’s never been shy about mentioning his loyalty to the Blues said that Birmingham is’ neck and neck’ with Dortmund as the best team in the world.
Haaland was having none of it, and quickly stated his own former hometown club, Bryne FK. The English midfielder then replied with Birmingham’s ace, and said “Big Troy Deeney up front”. Haaland, with a wry smile on his face, glanced towards Bellingham and said “Brexit”, and the pair erupted into laughter.
They weren’t alone, the moment had fans online in splits.
What is a Brexit player?
For those unversed in Football Twitter lingo, ‘Brexit’ is a term used jokingly to refer to traditional English players. Physical, dominant in the air with a shoot-on-sight policy, you know the kind.
Aside from being unexpected and hilarious, the moment also revealed that the striker is well versed in Twitter jargon, you’d expect nothing less from the man behind ‘Flow Kingz’.
