When the Qatar World Cup draws were made, football fans were excited about the prospect of England and the USA being drawn into the same group.
While the former has been a powerhouse footballing nation for a while now, the USA is slowly building a football culture in the states and has promising talent in their squad with European experience. US fans would be pinning their hopes on the likes of Gio Reyna and Christian Pulisic to cause a major upset in the World Cup by beating England.
While England still remain the favourites to top the group which also has Iran and one of Ukraine, Scotland or Wales, USMNT fans would have at least been hoping for a favour from Nike to upstage the Euros finalists with style.
In the recent past, national team jerseys have grown in importance with the likes of Nigeria, Japan and Mexico sporting fresh kits that have made kits of big European nations look inferior.
But it looks like Nike has completely let the USA down with the new kit designs for the home and away shirts for the World Cup. As per leaks on Twitter, the sporting giant has gone for a very bland and unimpressive design for both sets of kits.
While the home kit is just a white shirt with matching white stripe designs going horizontally along the torso combined with dark blue shorts, the away kit is just the home kit design except in light blue alongside matching shorts.
US fans online have been extremely vocal to express their disappointment with the kits.
They have hit out at the lack of ideas and thought gone into the making of what looks to be a very beta kit rather than a fully finished design.
With the prospect of being outclassed by England still looming large, it looks like the USMNT will also be outsauced by the Europeans whose rumoured kit leak looks impressive.
As per FootyHeadlines, the new home kit will be inspired by the white, sky blue and navy shades from the home kits from the 1990s famously worn by the likes of Paul Gascoigne.
The concept art reveals the kit to be sporting all three shades going from the navy, to sky blue to white from the collar to the bottom vertically.
The faded design looks much more enticing than the plain USMNT kits which would surely have England fans buzzing who would now be looking to match the amazing kit with supreme performances against the Americans in Qatar.
