A sold-out Old Trafford watched on as Manchester United U-18s took on Nottingham Forest in the FA Youth Cup final. In contrast to the senior team’s dismal displays, the U-18s have carried a competitive edge. Fans flocked to the youth side’s support as they received an opportunity to lift silverware.
In the end, the Red Devils prevailed and won 3-1.
A record-breaking crowd of 60,000 watched on, as United’s future stars celebrated ecstatically. While these young stars aim to pave their own path, they certainly have idols they wish to emulate.
A prime example is Alejandro Garnacho, who’s expressed his appreciation for Cristiano Ronaldo on numerous occasions.
Likewise, midfielder Kobbie Mainoo may have displayed similar intent, as he recreated a classic picture with his teammates.
The youngster shared a series of pictures, following the win, on his Instagram.
One of these included an image captured after United’s 2011 FA Youth Cup triumph. It featured Ryan Tunnicliffe, Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison in their youth, as they gathered around the title.
The class of 2022 decided to recreate the image, down to the fine details. Sam Mather at the far left, Daniel Gore clutching the trophy in the centre, Maxi Oyedele at the far right, and Mainoo in Pogba’s spot.
The classy throwback was loved by fans online and they hoped that Mainoo will develop into a player as elite as Pogba.
