Since signing for Chelsea in 2020, Kai Havertz has shot up in prominence within the ranks at Stamford Bridge. In just his first full season at the club, the 22-year-old impressed many with 5 goals and 5 assists in all competitions as the German rounded the year off on a high by scoring the winner in Chelsea’s Champions League final victory over Manchester City.
Despite the arrival of Romelu Lukaku in the summer as the club’s big-money striker signing, Havertz continued to earn the trust of manager Thomas Tuchel and remained the first-choice centre-forward option, ahead of Lukaku and Timo Werner. The German international has improved upon his previous scoring tally and currently has 12 goals and 3 assists for the London side in all competitions.
While the ex-Leverkusen star has stood out with his own numbers and performances, he has also done well to showcase his attributes as a team player in the squad.
As Chelsea already boasted of a young squad with the likes of Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Reece James in the mix, the arrival of Havertz in 2020 could have hampered the progress of the club’s own youth. However, the German has managed to do just the opposite as he has worked with other young talents, especially Mason Mount to ensure that they both hone their skills at Stamford Bridge.
Both Mount and Havertz boast the most appearances for Chelsea amongst attackers this season, earning 52 and 45 caps, respectively. Mount has been more impactful for the Blues in the league with 11 goals while Havertz has been more clinical in Europe, complementing each other in attack.
Off the pitch, the duo has formed a bromance of sorts by matching celebrations during training and by also mentioning each other in post-game victory posts.
In the latest addition to this blossoming friendship, Havertz has copied Mount’s current hairstyle as revealed by left-back Ben Chilwell’s Instagram story. The duo is seen sporting the same trim during Chelsea’s latest training session on Wednesday in the story with Chilwell labelling them twins.
Mount himself had only ditched his previous longer cut for the current close-cropped look and it looks like he has convinced his clubmate to follow suit, which would be ideal for the approaching summer.
While the haircut might be the most evident indication of Mount and Havertz’s bromance, they have already been showing signs of it with their football and Chelsea fans would be hoping for it to progress through next season as well in their hunt for titles under new ownership.
