Aside from the title race, there was plenty else up for contention on the final day of the Premier League.
Burnley and Leeds United fought the drop, the fourth position was up for grabs and the Europa League spots were yet to be decided.
Similarly, the race for the Golden Boot was on as well, with Mo Salah leading the pack, and being chased by Son Heung-min.
Going into the final fixture, they were divided by a single goal, Salah sat on 22, whereas Son had 21.
It was obvious that the race was all set to go down the wire, and evidently, it was on the players’ minds as well.
While Salah may have been preoccupied with the scoreline at the Etihad, Son certainly had his eyes on the top spot.
Tottenham were in free-scoring form against bottom-placed Norwich City, and naturally, the South Korean got in on the action as well. Son scored 2 in quick succession, which briefly took him above Salah.
Aware that he was the frontrunner after his brace, the 29-year-old took a keen interest in whether Salah had netted one or not. As seen in this clip, with Spurs 4-0 up, Son let his focus shift and asked if “Salah scored?.”
And eventually, Salah did score, taking his tally up to 23 and tying it up at the top alongside the Spurs man.
The pair shared the top scorer honour for this season, the Egyptian also ended up winning the top playmaker award as he ended up with 12 assists in the league.
