Liverpool is looking to strengthen their squad to keep up with Manchester City’s rivals and challenge again for Europe next season. With star players such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino at risk of leaving, they would be looking to reinforce their attack.
According to The Anfield Wrap’s Rob Gutmann, the Merseyside club has held talks with Harry Kane regarding a transfer. Kane in the current Liverpool squad has many exciting possibilities. His playmaking skills would perfectly complement Liverpool’s winger’s clinical finishing and vice versa.
The transfer does seem unlikely with Tottenham securing the Champions League, and the future looks bright under Antonio Conte. If it were last season, when Kane was looking for a transfer away from Spurs, perhaps Liverpool would have had a better chance.
However, recently a clip featuring the Tottenham striker has emerged on the internet, which adds to these rumours. In this clip, Kane, who is in America at the moment, is asked who he thinks are the craziest fans and the hardest city to play in. England no. 9 promptly replied – ‘…maybe Liverpool I reckon’.
Perhaps Kane like many others just recognises the great atmosphere in Anfield. For any opposition team, hearing thousands sing You Will Never Walk Alone before an important match, would be both intriguing and intimidating.
There is also the possibility, even if slim, that the forward was hinting at a future with the Merseyside club. For now, we can only make our own theories from such rumours, only Kane and everyone else involved really know what’s going on.
Already the transfer window is shaping up to be one of the most exciting ones. Many clubs have seen exciting arrivals and surprising departures. If it were to happen, Kane to Liverpool would top the list.
