Tuesday saw Liverpool treat their fans with a festive announcement by confirming the signing of Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica. It took the Merseyside club just a few days to leap ahead of favourites Manchester United and sign the talented youngster after much anticipation and build-up.
With the transfer window having opened just last week, the English side have already given a glimpse of their new-look line-up for the upcoming season. While Kopites have appreciated the club for its planned and concerted efforts towards building its future by signing players such as Nunez and Fabio Carvalho (from Fulham), it is a different story when it comes to the kits for the 2022/23 campaign.
Alongside the announcement of Nunez on Tuesday it looks like the club’s third kit for next season has been leaked on social media. The mistimed reveal occurred after one of the models of an online retailer, ASOS, shared an image of him donning the kit on his TikTok page (@ mrmicahh on there).
With Liverpool having only released their home kit for next season till now, this leak on Tuesday has been a big blow to their PR team who would have been working on an announcement video for the third kit.
While the untimely leak may have been an unwelcome reveal, the kit has surely impressed Liverpool fans. The Nike design consists of a teal primary shade clubbed with a lightweight white designer print and red logo and badges. It has used the red in a similar style as the club’s black third kit for the 2020-21 campaign.
Although the kit’s leak has surprised many Kopites, ASOS might not be chuffed with the mistake of their employee. Despite the cat being out of the bag for the Merseyside club at this point, they can still take pride in the fact that Nike have at least designed an impressive kit that would surely attract buyers no matter what.
