There were not many positives to take for Manchester United over the course of their 2021-22 domestic and European campaigns. Despite the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane the club managed to finish outside of the top 4 and also fail to reach even the quarter-final stage in the remaining cup competitions (FA Cup, League Cup & UCL).
Even the arrival of Erik ten Hag this season has not changed their fortunes as the Red Devils are currently bottom of the Premier League table after just two games into the new season.
The situation with the first team has been so bad that United’s youth team appears to be receiving much more attention and love from supporters of the club who also beat the senior team to a trophy by winning the FA Youth Cup last season.
Throughout the youth side’s run in the competition, perhaps no other player impressed the Old Trafford faithful than 18-year-old Alejandro Garnacho. After the Argentine international scored a wonderful solo goal against the Everton youth side in the same competition, the youngster quickly gathered the attention of United fans.
This moment of brilliance was followed up by Garnacho’s composed spot kick against Nottingham Forest in the final to put United ahead in the 77th minute. Moreover, the goal was also followed up by Garnacho hitting Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Siuu’ celebration which only increased his popularity with United fans.
These heroics for the youth team also helped Garnacho secure first-team calls as he made his senior debut with United last season when he came on against Chelsea in April.
While his performances on the pitch have surely helped with his popularity, Garnacho’s growing tattoo collection has also been keenly followed and appreciated by supporters.
Earlier this year, the 18-year-old added two tattoos to his left and right forearms. One featured the picture of a young woman while the other tattoo was based on a football cartoon Garnacho used to watch as a kid.
Now it looks like the youngster has added another one to his collection after the United man took to Instagram to reveal a new tattoo on his right arm inspired by the popular TV show Prison Break.
The latest tattoo inked on the forward features the main characters from the hit show such as Michael Scofield, Lincoln Burrows and Theodore ‘T-Bag’ Bagwell. These infamous characters have been depicted to look as if behind bars in the tattoo design.
In comparison to the former tattoo, the latest one perhaps looks the most striking as Garnacho seems to be taking his interest in getting inked to higher and more nuanced levels.
With several of United’s first team players failing to impress Erik ten Hag, perhaps young guns such as Garnacho could feature more prominently with the senior squad this season. More game time with the senior squad could perhaps ensure that Garnacho’s next tattoo features a memorable moment from his performance on the pitch or even a maiden trophy with the first team.
