Premier League matchday 5 is almost over, with only Man Utd vs. Leicester remaining. In this post, we analyse the FPL hits and misses that the mid-week games brought. The results are as follows:

The Hits:

Erling Haaland

The most obvious place to start is the talk of the town, Erling Haaland. Man City’s dominant win included a hat-trick for star striker Haaland.

His back-to-back hattricks mean he has delivered 17 points in consecutive matchdays, has the highest total points in FPL and has become a must-have in any team.

Joao Cancelo

Man City were also one of three teams keeping a clean sheet, making this matchday not so lucrative for defenders. Joao Cancelo, the third most sold player this week, got a points haul of 12 points, thanks to the clean sheet, along with an assist and a goal, rewarding the loyal FPL players who stuck by the player.

Jesus and Martinelli

The Arsenal duo were on the scoresheet, getting 6 and 10 points respectively. The Brazilians have started the season in scintillating form, contributing to Arsenal’s 5-game winning streak by having 6 goals and 4 assists between them.

Raheem Sterling

Another player who has had a good couple of game weeks is Raheem Sterling. The player has scored thrice in two games and is becoming a must-have in FPL.

With attractive fixtures coming up, Sterling is sure to find his way into many more teams.

Mohamed Salah

After blanking in the 9-0 mauling of Bournemouth last week, Salah was the second most transferred out player this week.

However, Salah was also the second most captained player this week, after Haaland.

This week was much better for Salah owners. The player got 2 assists, and scored 10 points, much to the relief of managers around the world who stuck by him.

The Misses:

Rodrigo

One of the most transferred-in players, Rodrigo, disappointed his new managers with a single-point return.

An injury cut the player’s time short against Everton, and he is a doubt for the next match against Brentford in 2 days’ time. Rodrigo has started the season in great form, scoring 4 goals and assisting another one for his team.

Kevin De Bruyne

City’s win had a notable absence in the form of midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, which upset quite a few FPL managers. The player, rested by Pep and owned by 25.6% of the FPL teams, ended the week with only a point but should return to the starting XI for the next match.

Pascal Groß

The most transferred-in player (764K+ transfers) was disappointed with only 2 points as his team was beaten by Fulham 2-1.
