EA is once more teasing us with fresh FIFA 23 player rating announcements as the eagerly anticipated release date approaches.
This time, the ratings for Italy’s Serie A TIM have been made public, and they have generated a lot of conversation – as they always do.
Last year’s Serie A title race was one of the spiciest we have had in years.
With Juventus out of the picture, the Milan teams stepped up as the race for Scudetto between Inter and AC went down to the last day of the season.
The Rossoneri won their 19th title after beating Sassuolo 3-0 on the final matchday.
Thus, it only makes sense that Serie A’s highest-rated player list is absolutely dominated by players from teams from Milan.
The usually high-rated players like Dybala from Roma still make the list, but the new entries are stronger than ever.
The highest-rated player in Serie A this year is the 27-year-old goalkeeper from AC Milan, Mike Maignan, rated at 87.
With 17 clean sheets, he was by far and away the best keeper in the league and also has started making his mark in the ranks of the best goalkeepers in the world.
The highest ratings for Serie A are considerably lower than ratings for the other big-5 leagues, which all have a minimum highest rating of 90.
This could be because of a lack of big-name superstars in the league.
The last time Serie A had a 90-rated player was back in FIFA 20, in the form of CR7.
Since then, their highest rated player has been Dybala with an 87, who has this year been dropped to an 86 and is third on the list.
Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is second highest on the list, with a rating of 86, alongside fellow striker Romelu Lukaku, who also has the same rating.
There are 6 more players in the 86 region, namely Ciro Immobile, Sergej Milinković-Savić, Nicoló Barella, Marcelo Brozović, Milan Škriniar, and Wojciech Szczęsny.
Theo Hernandez of AC Milan and Paul Pogba and Filip Kostic, recent additions to Juventus, are at 85.
However, all is not gloomy for the Italian league, as young players are on an electric rise.
Raphael Leão has seen one of the biggest jumps ever, upgrading from a 75 to an 84 in a single year.
This is due to the fact that he won the Serie A MVP award last season, and it’s fair to say he could have been rated even higher.
Though, having the league MVP outside of the top 15 in ratings is questionable, to say the least.
Dusan Vlahovic has also seen an enormous leap, jumping from 78 to 84.
The upgrade to 84 seems to be a trend, as other high risers, such as Fikayo Tomori (76 last year) and Sandro Tonali (77 last year) saw their ratings jump to the same.
Other stars such as Di Maria, Chiesa, Calhanoglu, Bonucci, and De Vrij are all rated 84.
